Hair conditioner can have a different role depending on the type of conditioner you buy. For the most part, it is used to moisturize and protect your hair as well detangling.

The moisturizing elements of conditioner generally leave your hair with a light glossiness but there are also specific conditioners which give your hair a higher gloss. These usually contain silicone.

If you use hair styling tools like straightening or curling irons, you might want to choose a conditioner which contains thermal protectors. These help shield your hair against excessive heat and are usually quite effective.

You can also find reconstructive hair conditioners which contain protein to help strengthen your hair. This is useful for people with damaged hair caused by harsh treatments such as perms or after excessive use of irons.
